Pope Francis Vs. Pope Benedict and the Vatican> History Vs. Reality

There is no queastion that Pope Francis has been a breath of fresh air to the 21st century Catholic church. The numbers of the Catholic Church are huge around the globe but it is apparent that the followers are becoming better educated and questioning many of the church teachings. First, lets acknowledge the disgraceful actions of the former Nazi youth conservative, Pope Bendict. With his stepping down, the faithful stopped seeing the Pope as a divine entity chosen by G-d to lead the church. Pope Benedict, knowingly supported and promoted child molestors to higher levels in the church. One might envision Hell, loaded with many Cardinals and Archbishops that lived a life of oppulance while the faithful starved and used their power for pure debauchery Hetero sexual as well as Homosexual. Pope Francis has been shaking things up a bit by defrocking priests and cardinals for their lewd and lascivious acts. Why is Pope Benedict living at the Vatican? The pure corrucption under his leadership should warrant public flogging. Does Pope Francis feel that the former Pope deserves special tratment? Pope Benedict should stand trial for his cover ups of Child Molestation while he was Archbiship. What about the Priests on all continents spending millions on their homes with elevators, sunrooms 20,000 square feet etc. Was this the life that a Jewish man led 2000 years ago? Does anybody truly believe that this was the desire of Christ. The annointed one-- a term that was Greek and mentioned 100 years after the death of Jesus, the Orthodox Jew? For 2000 years anti-semitism had been perpetuated by the church. For good reason. As long as Jews walk the earth Catholics will be questioning why a Jewish Orthodox homeless man, a man that studied and taught Torah in the TEMPLE and beyond. A man that was kosher and observed every Jewish Holiday would be revered and become the G-d of a new religion. The earlier followers of Jesus were all Jews. The term Christian came many years later. All Jewish holidays were forgotten and replaced with Pagan rituals and a new set of laws. Whatever was precious to the Jewish religion was removed . The laws of Moses totally disregarded. One of G-ds commandments, Though shalt have no other G-ds before me as well as, There shall be no graven images has been disregarded as the Church had statues of Jesus and Saints galore. People started praying to Saints to intercede. People had a Human Face of their G-d and that was a sin. God is pure energy. to imagine it could be contained in a vessel is just plain ridiculous. Did Jesus not have bowel movements? needs of a man? did he die a virgin? Was a Homosexual? Could Pope Francis begin the healing process of thousands of years of Murder, Child Molestaition, monetary squandering and rape abuse and genocide, the millions of Jews and Muslims killed during the Crusades and Courts of inquisition? Can Pope Francis remove Pope Benedict from the protection of Vatican city, so that the people can try him for all of his crimes before G-d sends him to Hell for eternity? Will the Pope open the archives and return Priceless antiques stolen for the Jewish temples over the past 2000 years? Can the Pope introduce the faithful to aspects of the Jewish religion that G-d would have never disregarded? Rosh Hashana the anniverary of the creation of the world. Yom Kippur the Highest and holiest day of the Jewish calendar or the Passover which was the last meal eaten by Jesus the Jew. G-d Called upon Heaven and earth so that for eternity all Jews would gather and celebrate the Exodus during the time of the giving of the 10 comandments at Mount Sinai. Pope Francis has a full plate. The conservatives in the Vatican and all 4 corners of the glode do not want change and the leadership enjoy their extreme power. Catholics are open to Gay Marriage and contraception and woman in leadershiop roles. The Church must be willing to change. The African nations are the fastest growing Catholic nations. One by one in the 21st century they are abusing homosexuals and jailing them for life showing a total disregard for G-ds creation. These HOMOSEXUALS WERE BORN OF THE UNION OF ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN MARRIED IN THE EYES OF G-D AND THE CHURCH, NOT THE SPAWN OF THE DEVIL. IF THAT JEWISH MAN WERE ALIVE TODAY, I AM SURE HE WOULD BE MARCHING IN A GAY PRIDE PARADE AND LOVING ALL PEOPLE AS WELL AS CELEBRATING ALL OF THE JEWISH HOLIDAYS AND PRAYING FOR WORLD PEACE , LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING. EBOLA,ISIS,CANCER, POVERTY, IGNORANCE,DISEASE,POLLUTION,GLOBAL WARMING, CHILD ABUSE,MENTAL ILLNESS AND HUNGER, THESE ARE THE ISSUES FOR THE CHURCH FOR THE 21ST CENTURY. RESPECT FOR NUNS AND A COMMITMENT TO A VOW OF POVERTY BY PRIESTS. SOCIAL ISSUES ARE BEST TO BE LEFT TO AN IDUIVIDUALS MORAL COMPASS AND WE SHOULD ALL BE GRATEFUL FOR THE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE, LEST WE ALL BECOME VICTIMS OF SHARIA LAW AND STEP BACK INTO THE MIDDLE AGES OF IGNORANCE,STONING AND DESPAIR.

Connecticut Free Shakespeare, Bridgeport Connecicut. A Midsummer's Night Dream

I wanted to acknowledge the Connecticut Free Shakespeare production of a Midsummer's Night Dream. Ellen Lieberman and the entire cast did an amazing job as they have for the past 8 years that I have had the pleasure of attending at Beardsley Park .This year the venue was Mclevy green downtown Bridgeport. The event for the last performance Sunday evening was packed. I thought it was brilliant having it downtown, though I always thought Beardsley park was the perfect place to enjoy a picnic and play. Being a huge supporter of this great city and the current vibrant downtown with new restaurants, I found it extremely curious that the city was negligent in making sure that the thousands attending left with a perfect experience. The play was exceptional, as always. It seemed that the city could have enhanced the experience by closing a few streets for 3 hours so that during the play roughly idling motorcycles did not dominate the mood of the serenity of the play. A local restaurant across the street could have waited an hour to take down tents, as the sound of falling metal columns chimed for 20 minutes and finally a Fairfield restaurant had a food truck with a generator on for the duration of the play. These distractions did not take away from the talent and execution of the performers. These distractions did not have to happen at all. If the City is willing to host such a great cultural experience in our downtown with the hopes of drawing crowds there, It seems that a little effort could go a long way. It was wonderful to see a great crowd Sunday evening downtown as well as I was told by many that Saturday was as well attended. Personally, I always believed that Beardsley Park and Greg Dancho were not only perfect hosts, but the occasional distraction of a peacock was always a welcomed experience. Bringing the play downtown for the week could be a very smart strategic move. However, it would behoove the Mayor to ensure that our guests from other communities want to come to downtown and patronize our restaurants., not a food truck from Fairfield. I still can not figure that one out other than it being a gross insult to the local restaurants. I am sure Coyote Flaco has a friend in high places that doesn't care about local eateries. To the entire cast of A Midsummer's Night Dream. Bravo and thank you for the many years of talent and creativity that Bridgeport needs . Looking forward to next year! Steven L. Auerbach

ROMNEY IS A GREAT MAN- BUT OBAMA SHOULD BE RE-ELECTED

To the editor,
There are so many issues to consider in this next election. I am voting for Barack Obama for many reasons. Not because he has ended the war in Iraq or bringing to end a war in Afganistan. Not because of his professional demeanor and respect on the world stage. Not because of his unshakeable support of our closest ally Israel. Not because he understands that there is separation of Church and state and doesn't feel he needs to impose his personal beliefs on his country. Not because he understands a woman's right to make a choice that is her own and not open to the Judgement of religious zealots. Not because he was the first American President to acknowledge that gays serve our country and deserve the right to marry and be recognized. Not because he is the most respected  leader of all ethnic groups. Not because he has started us on a road to recovery after being handed the worst economy in a generation from a Republican party that sent our country into  financial ruin. Not because he saved the auto industry and jobs. I am voting for Barack Obama because I trust him. I know where he stands on the issues. He is forever evolving to a higher plain where there is no turning back for society or mankind.

Mitt Romney seems to be a very nice guy. I am not interested in his days at Bain capital and the thousands of jobs sent overseas. If veterans and John Mccain could support a man that supported the Viet Nam war and than spent 2 years on a mission in France sending love letters home while 18 year old men were losing their lives and limbs, than that is their prerogative. If they can support a man that has changed his stand on nearly every issue in the past 10 years then what can I say. If his supporters are not interested in his tax returns and choose to give him a free pass that is their privilege. Personally, as nice a guy as Mitt Romney is , He is a man lacking character and conviction. You can not stand for one thing one day and change the next. He can not be trusted. He lacks experience on the international stage and his Vice Presidential pick not only lacks experience on the world stage but also any business experience. Mitt Romneys ticket has no respect for woman and their issues and gays rights. The Republican party has no respect for the Latino community or African American community. City's like Bridgeport, Connecticut will suffer terribly under Republican rule. All social programs will be cut and create terrible hardships. The Republican party has done this to themselves. They have been exclusive for so long. They do not represent the face of the 21st Century America. They do not deserve to control the White house after 4 years when the Republicans destroyed the country in 8. Barack Obama deserves 4 more years to continue moving our country forward.

Romney Netanyahu and Jewish support of Obama

To the Editor,
While it is most important for a Presidential candidate to show some sort of Foreign relations experience. A one week travel to the middle east and Europe will hardly give credibility to Romneys Campaign . It will look as silly as Sarah Palin  'attempts . Especially in the Middle east. It is vain to imagine the American Jews are naive to believe the Romney is more supportive of Israel than Barrack Obama.  Obama may have made a few missteps in dealing with Israel but the Jewish people know he is 100 percent in support of Israel.

The Republicans are attempting their usual scare tactics and Obama attempts to fulfill some campaign promises by reducing spending on the military and bringing our troops home, The Republicans want to beef up spending and expect the U.S to go to Syria, maybe start world war 3. Get involved with Iran and throw the major powers into a war where there will be no return.

Israel and the United States stand together. Peace needs to be the number 1 objective since most Jewish Americans and Israelis including Arab -Israeli citizens want and yearn for peace. The problem in Israel which affects the United States in time of war is the ever growing Ultra Orthodox Jewish community. They are a quickly growing minority in Israel. They currently enjoy exemption from the Israeli  Military, creating animosity among the secular community. All Men and woman are required to serve. Gays in the military have been serving openly for years before the United States followed the lead.
At what point will Netanyahu have to make huge changes in Israeli's exemption process. As a Jew I do not believe the Ultra Orthodox deserve any special treatment. Israel needs all of the country to support them in times of war. In an attempt to make peace it is the Orthodox Jews that continue to build housing to instigate problems with the Palestinians. They are all in it together. Peace is the only way. When Mitt Romney says everything Netanyahu wants to hear. Beware, He is offering our friends , sons and daughters , fathers and mothers to go to war which should remind all that while thousands of young men gave their lives and suffered Mental health issues during Viet Nam, Mitt Romney supported the war but spent his time ringing doorbells in France on his Morman Missionary service.

Sincerely,

Gathering of the Vibes-Bridgeport ,Connecticut

To the editor,
It seems like an apparent opportunity every year that the"Gathering of the Vibes", sets up in Bridgeport and we play host for a few days to visitors and residents alike. The city has everything to gain over the next 10 years as Steelpoint finally begins construction. The visibility from the highway sends a message to thousands of visitors that Bridgeport is coming back to life.

The University of Bridgeport as well as Housatonic and other local institutions could use this draw as a positive in their marketing brochures. The University should host short tours including the magnificent view from the top floor of the library of one of Bridgeport's greatest assets, Seaside Park.

I would urge the Mayor and local business's to figure out a way to promote the city during the Vibes concert. You never know who is there and in the audience. One thing is true. Bridgeport has a captive audience of  diverse individuals and the City does little to promote itself.

Overall, The Vibe concerts over the past few years have enjoyed positive press and a nice turnout. What are local business's doing to attempt to extend the stay of these participants? What is the University of Bridgeport doing to promote their unbelievable location on the water? My musical appreciation has become so diversified over the years and must admit these days Symphony's and Opera. Seems like yesterday that Rock, soul and disco were my forte. But, I remember the excitement of concerts and coupled with camping make Bridgeport a jewel.

I would imagine that the City of Bridgeport will be wise and look to the future and realize that 4 days of positive Public relations can go a long way in changing the perceptions of our city. I wonder ho many families at the Park are aware that they could end their experience with a day at Beardsley park, the zoo or maybe even Shakespeare. Oh what a great memory these visitors could have if we just all put our heads together and create something that would be truly memorable. How about incorporating a Taste of Bridgeport- local restaurants during these 4 days.
When it comes to Bridgeport, I remain eternally optimistic.

Sincerely, Steven L. Auerbach

Harding High School, Bridgeport, Connecticut

In regards to the Bridgeport School system. I know it is a done deal but an individual such as Mr. Ramos, the former Superintendent of schools, as nice of a man he was, he failed. He failed miserably thousands of students that have come and gone over the past few years. It will be hard to tell how much damage has been done under his leadership. He should have been fired instead of resigning with a healthy package in an economy where individuals are loosing everything they have worked their whole life for.

That being said, it is a done deal. Reward for a job poorly done. Benefits for years while the average Bridgeporter learns to live without benefits for their family and children .Enough said on that .In the past 2 years I have been in nearly 24 schools as a sub. Lets not even discuss the insulting pay scale for a substitute in Bridgeport. Never mind the lack of benefits and the inability to initiate a  claim for unemployment benefits .
Let's discuss the real issues as mine is a temporary one and a great learning experience. This afternoon on my way home from an assignment at Longfellow school, which btw is immaculate and orderly with great students, I drove by Harding High School. This is the real reason for this letter. Harding High School was identified as one of the worst performing high schools in the area. The Principal was let go and a group came in to revamp and wave the magic wand to help bring that school to a higher level.

You would think that with the high caliber of individuals coming into that school at a nice price there would be basic improvements like cleaning the garbage around the school. You would think that not only the former Superintendent , but the new principal and associate principals, students and families would have gone on a team building expedition to increase pride in the school and neighborhood. The entire property lining Central Avenue around their otherwise beautiful athletic field is completely littered and fenced in with garbage for the entire stretch of the school.
This is a disgrace. This not only sets the tone for the students but also shows the lack of self esteem of the school teachers and students, parents and neighbors surrounding the school. I do not blame the Mayor but would question the local council members of that district.

Setting the tone of the school would be the first step in improving conditions at Harding. Getting the community and students involved would improve not only neighborhood relations but teach the students about team building and improve their social skills. The students and teachers deserve to work in an environment that is clean . The neighbors  should not have to look at garbage 7 days a week every week year after year. That garbage lining Central Avenue on the Harding School; property is just plain unacceptable and yes it does affect on  a subconcious level anyone interested in developing any part of that neighborhood. In just a short while the General Electric property could be just one development affected by this.

I would suggest , for the sake of our students, teachers and neighborhoods that this school address this opportunity to make a huge  impact in the neighborhood .Partner up with a Home Depot. plants gardens and improve the quality of life for all of the residents and students.

There are many problems with our schools that need to be addressed. The school system in Bridgeport is key to our future economic development. Cleaning the garbage and improving self esteem is a quick fix. just do it and get it done.

Finch ,Foster,Steelepointe and Dirt from "ONLY IN BRIDGEPORT" blog

Any news about Steelepointe these days is good for the city of Bridgeport. I will be more impressed when the Steelepointe developers take a full page ad in the Connecticut post and New York Times touting the new 1 billion dollar project. Imagine, Stamford has taken Steelepointe’s original name and brought it to fruition, “Harborpointe”. I am pleased to see the announcement and hope this project moves forward with serious development. If it starts with a Walmart I can assure you I will teach the city of Bridgeport what a marketing campaign will do. G-d help us if a shovel goes in the ground for a big box , low paying retailer. I do give kudos to the mayor for thinking green.
A word to Zena Lu- iF DIRT IS worth celebrating than lets do it! A word to city hall smoker- Mayor Mary C. Moran got in by winning a primary from a very popular former Republican Mayor, Leonard Paoletta. With the support of a group of youthful supporters known as the New Republican voice, a group that knew how to excite volunteers and keep them coming to a “party” and most importantly, Moran ran against Thomas Bucci whose admministration at the time was falling apart. A Republican in Bridgeport never wins an election, the Democrat looses. Finch is not that awful and that is why he is still in office. The people were just lazy and were not that disappointed with the way things are. I still believe Mary-Jane Foster will make an excellent Mayor. She needs to stay engaged and be seen. I remember Joe Ganim as well as Chris Caruso showing up at every important meeting to make their presence known. I will not be one of those disgrunteled political hacks that will undermine the current administration. I still say Eversley has got to go and the city could do with a few cheerleaders. The Seaview Avenue embarrassment last week was painful for all of Bridgeport. Lets hope we can get the development project off the ground in the South end by the University of Bridgeport that will compelement the neighborhood and school and put a high speed ferry there. May Steelepoint finally become a reality. And hope all of the Foster supporters always support the positive things going on in the city and not feel they need to go to another party unless they feel it will improve the city. At this moment I do not and hope the Finch administration stays focused on development as it the only thing that will help lower taxes. It takes a long time for these edifices to generate any tax revenues so we will all most likely suffer for a few more years. I have met alot of incredible people during the Foster campaign and gratful I am still friends with those that were part of the Finch campaign. When a campaign ends you mend fences and put the past behind you. We will stay in touch and all together strive to make the city of Bridgeport a great place.
